Notes for John Bugg
John Bugg was reputed to have given evidence in the murder case of Maria Marten and the Red Barn. He was a character witness for the defence of William Corder. He is rported as saying. “I am a labourer, and a looker-on over one of Mrs Corders farms. I have known the prisoner ever since he was a baby. He always appeared to be kind and humane.” Corder was in fact convicted and Hung in 1828
